ShenZhen-ZhongShan Bridge is a great project with overall, long-term and strategic significance in the construction of major infrastructure in China. The total length of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan River Crossing Project is about 24 km. It is a world-class "bridge, island, tunnel, and underground interconnection" cluster project. It is a major transportation project determined by the national "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" and the "Plan Delta Planning Outline". The infrastructure project is an important transportation link connecting the three major areas of the Guangdong Free Trade Zone and the two functional groups of the Pearl River Delta, "Shengzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou" and "Zhuhai-Zhongshan-Jiangmen". It is a convenient passage from eastern Guangdong to western Guangdong and even southwestern China.

In this project, there is a 6.8km two-way eight-lane submarine steel shell concrete immersed tube tunnel. The tuneel is "Ultra wide", with a pipe section width of 46 meters, the first in the world, which is difficult to design and construct.

Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited (GSI) is a modern shipbuilding company wholly owned by CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering (Group) Company Limited under the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Group(CSSC). In this great project, GSI fabricated the steel immersed tube tunnel for the under river tunnel.
